In terms of magazine publications, there are obviously many different types. Within this blog post, i will be talking about two different magazines in which i really enjoy, and then giving examples of my own work that may fit the style of magazine.
- Dazed and Confused.
Dazed and Confused is a British magazine founded by Rankin and Hack in 1991. The publication is known for its unorthodox imagery and sometimes controversial editorials. Personally i read Dazed a lot, i really love the way the magazine is set out and the work that it displays inside, since i want to be a controversial photographer one day, it gives me a lot of ideas and inspiration for my own work. Underneath are some examples of previous covers from the publication.

I think that in regards to my own work, one recent photoshoot may fit into the narrative of the magazine quite well. This is due to the colours i used, the techniques i used when shooting and the model i chose. They are all fairly unorthodox, from using cellophane atop of my lens for a blurred effect, to the nakedness of the model and the overlays i chose to use within post production, in my opinion it just fits. (Images seen underneath, shot by me).
2. POP!
POP! magazine is a huge publication that usually has up to 400 pages of editorials, fashion promotions and advertisements within. It is released once a month and usually has a range of different covers each time. POP! holds so may editorials that it is sometimes difficult to pinpoint their personal style, however there are always editorials at the end of the publication that seem to be rather dreamy and colourful. These are actually usually my favourite part of the magazine due to them all having interesting titles and being the type of photography that i enjoy seeing, it also inspires me in terms of technical work. Underneath are some examples of previous covers.

In regards to my own work, i think that my stills for ‘Who’s in Fashion’ may suit the narrative of POP!. This is due to the dreamy connotations of the images and the colours used within them. As well as the shots having a more fun narrative than my previous work. They showcase a concept and a time period that POP! tends to showcase a fair bit, therefore i do believe my work may fit in well with this publication. (Shown underneath, shot by me).
